Members of the North Carolina Geological Survey visited the site of the last earthquake that struck near Sparta and felt it as far north as Baltimore and as far south as Atlanta. Their findings will help the country prepare for future seismic events.

The 5.1-magnitude earthquake was the strongest earthquake in the state since 1926. While no major injuries were reported, damage to roads and facilities in the area was reported.

NCGS says they have two targets after the earthquake.
