Courtney Cole’s “Earthquake” tells the story of finding herself during the healing process

Courtney Cole’s new EP “Earthquake,” which has four biographical tracks, highlights Finding Freedom Within. The artist’s previous editions earned her acclaim from Rolling Stone and The Huffington Post, enabling her to tour with Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, and Ken Brown, to name a few.

When she performed on the Miranda Lambert Roadside Bars & Pink Guitarists Tour in 2015, Cole released her self-titled EP. Cole grew up in a New Orleans suburb, which means she has been all about music and creativity the whole time. She began performing at the age of five when her parents sang Sonny and Cher’s I Got You Babe on stage with her father in a canonical talent show.

“From that moment on, I was addicted to theater! I studied music and theater at a high school for performing arts in the city called NOCCA.” When I was 18 years old, I moved to Nashville to study at Belmont University. Cole doesn’t stick to a certain phrasing when writing songs. She said it was a different process every time.

“Sometimes it might sound like a complete poem I’ll eventually turn into a song. Other times, I have the full melody for a song and the lyrics come later. When the inspiration comes, I try to jump on it!”

The idea for “Earthquake” started in 2018 when she wrote the first song on the EP “Spiritual”. She mentioned that the song “Spiritual” was a reset button, not just in her music, but in her life.

“My goal was to strip everything, just as my life was after dealing with some difficult experiences, and also create a new voice. That’s why this song is so nude,” she revealed. After that, “Right Direction” adds more production, then “New Eyes” then “Earthquake” is almost like a new soundtrack, which will continue to grow and develop.

The artist wants listeners to feel natural after hearing “Earthquake” for the first time and to tell them that everyone is going through tough times.

“I want this EP to inspire them despite their pain.” Cole said, “I really think that given perceived failure, there is so much power.” The purpose of the EP is to share my healing journey with the world in the hope that it will help heal them as well. It’s all about finding joy in the midst of pain and uncertainty and finding yourself in the process. “

The most important words in “Earthquake” are “I feel something is shifting somewhere deep down, and it’s shaking me awake.” Cole said these words encompass the entire EP because her healing journey really opened her eyes to many aspects of her identity and reality.

“I think this music program is closely related now to everything that happens in the world,” she said. “There is no better time than now for all of us to look deep into ourselves and ask ourselves why we believe in things.”

“When it comes to racism, religion, and self-belief systems, it is important to ask, ‘Do we believe what we do because we have been told to believe these things? Do we really know who we are, or do we need to build some kind of personality to win the approval of others? “I believe that when we become self-aware, and when we realize that we are more than what the world is telling us we should be, we find healing, and we find love and acceptance for all.”

The Four Paths in the EP have a self-reflexive theme – to become self-aware and to find freedom from within. One of the biggest messages that Cole wants to convey is that everyone is in their own healing process, and this process should not be rushed.

“If you look at a flower seed, that seed already possesses all the potential of that flower to be a flower. When given the right environment and care, it develops naturally.” “We are exactly the same and we are all part of this natural process. So wherever you are in pain, in your healing, or in any part of your journey, I think it is important to move through it naturally. Follow peace and effort, not resistance.”

In five years, Cole sees herself constantly wandering around, signing a deal, and releasing an entire album. You’ll never forget her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour with Miranda Lambert in 2015. She said, “She’s my heroine, so that was a real honor.”
