Mid-term review of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition
It has been almost five years since the Declaration of the Nutrition Decade. It’s time to reflect on your achievements so far. FAO and WHO convene an open and comprehensive stakeholder dialogue for the mid-term review of the Nutrition Decade. 
This review follows ECOSOC Resolution 1989/84 on International Decades, which provides that the appropriate intergovernmental body should evaluate the implementation of the work program for the mid and end of the decade.
The objectives of the Mid-Term Review of the Nutrition Decade are to assess and evaluate the achievements in the specific policy areas of the ICN2 Framework of Action, presented in the areas of action of the Decade Work Program, for the period 2016 to 2020. The Mid-Term Review aims to identify areas of focus for priority action and promising opportunities in each of the six areas of action for future progress from 2021 to 2025. This assessment will lead to a revision of the “live part” of the work program for decades of nutrition as needed.
The process will include a series of consultations and dialogues with Member States, civil society organizations, the private sector, UN partner agencies and others, as well as open networking. Finally, a global event is planned to underline the achievements of the first half of the Nutrition Decade and set the stage for priorities during the second half. The FAO / WHO Joint Decade for Nutrition Joint Secretariat has developed a mid-term review forecast document that will serve as a basis for the consultation process. Reflecting on the broader development of nutrition globally, this paper develops a vision of the activities to be undertaken in the different areas of the Decade of Nutrition work program, taking into account specific advances and opportunities in particular policy areas.
