Protesters in dead vests have been disrupting the streets of France for the past 15 weeks, fueling anger over fuel taxes, the cost of living and the political system. Now, President Macron has promised to listen to people’s frustrations and make changes.

But is there any need to see the protesters, or is France in a civil war? Nine European correspondent Jean Mackenzie went on a road trip across the country.
