Earthquake was felt in Aylesbury and other parts of the Bucks

A small earthquake struck parts of southern England and Bucks today as hundreds of residents reported feeling the buildings shaking and earthquakes.

The earthquake – which the British Geological Survey recorded as having a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale – struck at 9.45 am with the epicenter of Aylesbury.

Hundreds of residents said they felt and saw the earthquake, and some people reported that their homes and cars shook.

According to residents’ comments compiled by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, tremors were felt in the Tring, Aylesbury and Leighton Bazard regions.

One of them said, “She was lying on the sofa, as if she had picked up and came back for a second or more. But nothing out of place.”

Another said, “The house shook. A short, quick and quiet sound like an explosion.”

A resident of Tring added that it was “a big boom and then shivering,” adding: “I felt that someone was pushing our house.”
