Darjeeling: A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck Nepal, bordering India, at 9:15 am on Friday morning. The quake was also felt by residents in West Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and surrounding areas. No loss of life or property damage was reported.

According to the National Center of Seismology of India, the epicenter was recorded at coordinates 27.21, 87.92 (longitude and latitude) in Nepal, on the border with India. The region is located 33 km southwest of Peeling and Sikkim and 75 km northwest of Siliguri. The earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
