A container from the 2011 tsunami was found on the island

An apparent plastic container washed away from Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan, where a massive earthquake and tsunami in 2011 struck the shore of a remote Japanese island.

The container is 1.5 meters long, 1.1 meters wide and 70 cm deep, and was found on the coast of Ishigaki Island in southern Okinawa Prefecture.

It was partially damaged and Marjan was attached to it, but the letters were still visible. The letters printed on the container were referred to the Miyako Fishing Association and FY 2005.

The Miyako Fishing Association confirmed that the containers used by the local fishing industry at the time of the 2011 disaster had been swept away by the tsunami. The container washed ashore on the island of Ishigaki is believed to be one of them.

Nomura Yasuhiro, who runs a restaurant near where the container was found, said it was surprising that the container washed ashore on a beautiful beach after nine and a half years, and also kind of sad.
