UK Earthquake: Panic in Leighton Buzzard after earthquake hits homes across England | United Kingdom | News

Leighton Buzzard, who was bombed on September 8, is once again in the center of the action this morning.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismology Center said the quake, which had a magnitude of 3.6, struck at 9.32 am and was at a depth of five kilometers.

The quake struck 16 kilometers northeast of Hay Wycombe and 14 kilometers west of Hemel Hempstead in nearby Hertfordshire.

The British Geological Survey initially tweeted: “We are receiving reports of an earthquake in the Leighton Buzzard area this morning.

“We are currently investigating this and will update you as quickly as possible.”

But BGS then confirmed the earthquake, and said the magnitude 3.0 quake was 10 kilometers deep.

Twitter users reported the shaking shortly after 9:30 am.

Someone said, “Was that another earthquake in Leighton Buzzard? Anyone else feel that?”

Another said, “Yes, crockery cracks in the kitchen cabinets!”

A third said: Why does this continue?

Parts of Bedfordshire also reported shaking.

Someone tweeted, “He just had another earthquake in Milton Keynes – just like the earthquake on the 8th of September, but not as strong.”

Another commented: Well, did anyone just feel an earthquake in the Luton area? Or should I worry about our apartments?

“It looks like there was another one.

“There wasn’t much here, an earthquake, but they feel it … wrong.”

Glenn Ford, a seismologist at BGS, said there was “some tension building up in that particular area” but warned that “we definitely could” see another aftershock.

He told the Palestinian News Agency: “What we see here are small aftershocks from that (September 8) earthquake.”

The seismologist said it was “exemplary behavior” “seen in various regions of the United Kingdom” on numerous occasions “.

He added, “It is clear that there is some pressure that has accumulated in that particular region, and we have suffered the initial earthquake.

“Maybe it’s still just a rebalancing of the stress system in that part of the world and we’re experiencing these little aftershocks as well.

“It will probably settle down soon but can we have another one? We can definitely, but when it can happen, we don’t know.”

The latest earthquake comes exactly two weeks after a 3.9 magnitude earthquake in Leighton Buzzard.

Residents of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Leighton Bazard in Bedfordshire and Slough, Berkshire, reported feeling the earthquake and “their whole house shaking.”

Preliminary data on the British Goelogical Survey indicated that an earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale struck around 8.45 am in the morning at a depth of 10 km.

LastQuake, managed by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), said the earthquake was in fact a magnitude of 3.9.
