Trump will not bet on a peaceful transfer of power if he loses

President Donald Trump would not commit to a peaceful transition of power after Election Day, giving him more fuel to worry if he loses in November if he loses his office. “Well, we’ll have to see what happens,” Trump said, when asked if he would commit to a peaceful transition, one of the foundations of American democracy. Trump has previously declined to say whether he will accept the election results, following sentiments in 2016. And he’s joking, he says, about keeping well in office after two constitutional terms. But refusing to ensure a nonviolent transition went further and is likely to worry opponents, as it is already on the border because it was developed by federal governments to enforce a law to appease protests in American cities. He said he was not committed to a peaceful transition, saying there were concerns about the vote, extending the false assertion that the broad postal vote is full of fraud. “You know I complained very strongly about the vote and that the vote is a disaster,” Trump said at a White House news conference, referring to the postal vote, which he allegedly unfounded for voter fraud. “(G) The votes will be removed and you will have a very … transfer, actually. It will be a follow-up,” he added, “the votes are out of control.” Senator Mitt Romney, a Utah Republican who has spoken out against the president in the past, has thwarted Trump’s comments. “The basis of democracy is a peaceful transition of power; without it, there is Belarus,” Romney wrote. “Any suggestion that the President would not respect this constitutional guarantee is unthinkable and unacceptable.” Trump has previously said his rival Joe Biden will only prevail in November if elections are “exchanged,” and on the same day he suggested that he was likely to discuss election results until the Supreme Court. National polls now show Trump is behind Biden, though polls on states on election battlefields are tighter. #CNN # News.
