China is under increasing pressure to restart trade in wild animal meat, although it is not yet clear where the outbreak of coronavirus began or how it spread. Raising snakes and rat types in some parts of China has been a key driver of economic growth in some parts of China, but the government has imposed a set of bans after the virus exploded – and still doesn’t know how to make them sustainable.
