Activity at the volcano has been increasing over the past week, marked by an increase in seismic activity. According to the OVPF, earthquakes remain elevated when the instruments detected 1,300 volcanic tectonic earthquakes during 09:30 PM-12:04 PM local time yesterday. Earthquakes are mainly located below the summit area and the eastern side at depths between 1.6 and 5.2 km. This indicates that a new group of magma is rising within the volcano’s channels and pushing it to the surface. An eruption is expected in the next few hours. The instruments recorded a rapid deformation of the Earth. Volcanic fissures open at low altitude with increased seismic activity.
