Men and boys chained to an Islamic “school” in Nigeria – BBC News
Police in northern Nigeria have released 67 people who were found tied up in an Islamic boarding school, officials say. The students, aged between seven and 40, were told by police that they had been tortured and ill-treated. Last month, more than 300 male students were released from a similar boarding school in the nearby state of Kaduna. Islamic boarding schools, known as Almajiris, are common in all of the most Muslim areas in northern Nigeria. In a statement released Monday, police said the boys and men were chained and subjected to “inhuman and degrading treatment.” Some were sexually abused. Please subscribe HERE .
