When Alicia Garza’s civil rights campaign in 2013 posted the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on Facebook she had no idea what was to come. In the seven years since then, the phrase has become a global movement. This year it has gained worldwide prominence in May at the hands of U.S. police when protesters from ten countries after the death of George Floyd took to the streets.
