Idai Cyclone: Flying over Mozambique – BBC News
While Mozambique is counting the cost of Cyclone Idai, BBC Africa editor Fergal Keane has joined a helicopter flight in some of the worst-hit areas. The pilot pointed eastward to the wide brown water. “We’re 15 miles from the sea,” he said, “but it feels like we’re on top of it.” He was right. Beneath us, the farmland where thousands of people lived had disappeared. Charities say there are thousands of people affected by flood disasters, either stuck to roofs or stuck in trees.
