A 4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes near Manta, Ecuador

4.2 earthquake 36 km southwest of Jepjaba, Ecuador, 4 November 2.46 am (GMT -5)

The Institute of Geophysics of the National Polytechnic School of Quito (IGEPN) reported that a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred just 7 minutes earlier about 70 kilometers south of Manta, Ecuador, and the quake struck 5 kilometers below the epicenter in the early morning. Wednesday November 4, 2020 at 2.46 am local time. The earthquake size, exact location, and earthquake depth are likely to be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their reports. The earthquake should not have caused any major damage, but many people probably felt it as a slight shaking in the epicenter area.
