4.2 earthquake 47 km southwest of Pinotiba Nacional, Mexico, 6 November 11.30 pm (GMT-7)

The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in Mexico near the village of Paso de la Garrucha just 17 minutes ago. The earthquake struck late Friday night, November 6, 2020 at 11:30 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 5 km. The exact size, epicenter and depth of the earthquake may be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or when other agencies release their reports. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have occurred. It caused no major damage, but probably many people felt it as a slight shaking in the epicenter area. The weak vibration was probably felt in Paso de la Garrucha (pop-area 200) located 28 km from the epicenter, Playa Banco de Oro (zone 100) at 28 km, Corallero (1700 inhabitants) 33 km away, Santa Maria Chico Umitepec (1500) 35 km, Pocitus (400) 35 km, and Penotiba Nacional (25700) 47 km. Cities or towns near the epicenter where a very weak tremor might have been felt include Umetepec (population 17,800) located 87 km from the epicenter, and Umetepec (population 24,100) 87 km away.
