Just 26 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Petatlan, Mexico. The tremor was recorded early on the morning of Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 5.31 am local time, at a fairly shallow depth of 42 kilometers below the surface, and the event was provided by the National Seismic Service of Mexico (SSN), namely First seismic agency to report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage, but it was probably felt by many people as a slight shaking in the epicenter area. A weak tremor was probably felt in Petatlán (population 21,000) located 5 km from the epicenter, Rancho Nuevo (population 200) 7 km away, Río Chiquito (population 200) 9 km away, Miyagua (population area 100) 9 km away, Las Salinas (Salinas el Cuajo) (300) 11 km away, El Cabritero de Domínguez (Cabritero) (population 200) 12 km away, and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (population 61300) 37 km away, Towns or cities near the epicenter where the earthquake can be felt as the weak tremor includes Atoyac de Alvarez (population 21,400) located 91 km from the epicenter.
