UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that he is “confident” that the UK will “move out” of the EU if the post-Brexit trade agreement is not agreed with the bloc. Talks resumed in Brussels on 16 November, and the UK’s chief negotiator said there had been “progress”. David Frost Lord told reporters, “We are working very hard to reach an agreement, but there is a lot to do.” His EU counterpart Michel Barnier has said he wants to have “an open but direct future partnership” with the UK. He tweeted as the interview began, adding, “We continue to make decisions, be patient and respectful.” The points of contact between the two sides are competition rules and state aid for companies, as well as fishing rights.
