Agreement
A grant from the Mundo Sano Foundation for the duration of the agreement contains benznidazole:
- 105,000 100mg tablets
- 3,000 12.5mg tablets
Furthermore, the Foundation may donate funds to support drug distribution activities and is prepared to consider extending this agreement beyond a period of three years.
Disease
Chagas disease, also known as American trypanosomiasis, is a potentially life-threatening disease caused by a protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi).
Although considerable progress has been made, especially in reducing vector transmission and screening blood and organ supply, the challenge, diagnosis and delivery of health care to the most affected has been a challenge.
