Francis A. Foster, Rapahannock County Treasurer, on recertification as a certified government treasurer from the Weldon Cooper Center of Public Service and the Department of Continuing Education at the University of Virginia.

Candidates are certified after accumulating 100 continuing education credits. Certification usually takes at least three years to complete and requires attending educational workshops, seminars, classes, and lectures.

To maintain their degree, candidates must complete an additional sixty hours of continuing education within four years.

The certification program is designed to enhance the professionalism of local officials in Virginia.

Faith Mountain in Sperryville is pleased to announce three new indoor promotions for its management team.

Debbie Nick has been promoted from Washington to the position of Observer of Faith Mountain. She started with Faith Mountain in 1987. Now, as a controller, she oversees the accounting and financial duties of the company. Her long-term commitment to Faith Mountain and growing with the company is a huge benefit for the position.

Dogs howled, chickens jumped from their huts and old country houses shook as an earthquake shook Rabhannock County Thursday afternoon, with its epicenter 25 miles west of Richmond and measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale.

There were no reports of property damage or injury, according to Rapahannock County Police Chief, Larry Scheritz.

Patrick O’Connell, head chef at The Inn, said the Queen “enjoyed a royal welcome” at Little Washington.

“The Old Pub (now the inn stores) provided the perfect setting for a visit to Queen Noor and for the Washington Ballet performances during the book signing ceremony. It was a wonderful day in Washington’s long and colorful history.”

One of the highlights of the afternoon was a special Washington Ballet vignette from “The Nutcracker Suite”.
