COVID-19 and natural disasters: € 823 million in EU aid to eight member states | News
823 million euros will be distributed in aid from the European Solidarity Fund (EUSF) as follows:
More than 132.7 million euros in prepayments will be distributed to Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Hungary and Portugal in response to the major public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. Croatia will receive € 683.7 million euros to help the country deal with the devastating effects of the earthquake in Zagreb. And the surrounding area in March 2020. In general, there are 19 European Union countries (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain) and three Acceding countries (Albania, Montenegro, and Serbia) have requested assistance in addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis. Of these, seven requested that payment be made in advance, and parliament approved this vote.

Next steps
The cabinet approved the advance payments on October 30th, which can now be disbursed after the full vote. The committee is currently evaluating the requests received. Once this assessment is completed, the Commission will submit a proposal to make the final payments.
