Farmers protest: Indian farmers clash with police – BBC News
Farmers in the Indian state of Punjab have begun entering Delhi to denounce reforms that go against their interests. Thousands of them went to Delhi, and border barricades sparked clashes with police. But now police are escorting them to a protest site, they say they will continue to protest. The government denies that reforms that open up the agricultural sector to private actors will harm farmers. “Protestant farmers will be allowed to enter the national capital,” the Delhi Police Commissioner told local media, who will give permission to protest and ask them to do so peacefully.
