The US has declared a public health emergency due to the spread of coronavirus, saying it will deny access to foreign nationals who have visited China in recent weeks.

US citizens returning from Hubei Province, the first of its kind, will be there for 14 days in fifty days.

Nearly 12,000 cases of the new virus have been confirmed, most in China, since its inception in December.

More than 100 cases have been reported outside China, in 22 countries.

On Friday, Beijing said the death toll increased from 46 to 259, all in China and 249 in the Hub.

Earlier, it was concluded that new coronavirus cases worldwide had surpassed the Sars epidemic, spreading to more than two dozen countries in 2003.
