China: “the world’s largest camera surveillance network” – BBC News

China is building what it calls “the world’s largest camera surveillance network”. Across the country, there are already 170 million CCTV cameras in operation and approximately 400 million new ones will be installed over the next three years.
Many cameras have artificial intelligence, including facial recognition technology. John Sudworth of the BBC has had poor access to new hi-tech police control rooms.
