This is the dramatic moment when the father and son jump from a burning house and then ask, “Where is my mother?” After an “earthquake-like” explosion.

Mechanic Liam McLaughlin and his son Jack jumped through flames from their ladder after a huge explosion destroyed the walls of their home in Ellingworth, West Yorkshire yesterday.

An elderly woman had to be taken out of the fireball house after the explosion destroyed the house in seconds.

After the escape, Jack shouted frantically, “Where’s my mom? Where’s my mom?”

Soon after, Gwen’s mom is out of Hell. Jack’s girlfriend was also spotted barefoot on the street, and it is believed that she also escaped from Hell.

The three have been taken to hospital, but their condition is now stable.

A neighbor, who did not want to be named, told The Sun Online, “Jack came home around 7.30 am. I don’t know where he was.

Soon afterwards, there was tremendous boom and the entire house rose.

“I was expecting the worst, but amazingly, all four – Liam, Gwen, Jack and his girlfriend – came out.

“Jack didn’t look so bad, but Gwen looked burned.

“Jack was trying to see his mother in the ambulance, but the paramedics wouldn’t let him.”

Another resident said that the house is owned by the Ma’an Housing Association, and that a man came to “fix the kettle” on Friday.

Julie White, 36, told The Sun Online: “I heard the loud bang and when I saw the flames and devastation, I was astonished anyone who could survive it.

“But it is a miracle that they came out alive.”

Locals recounted how the force of the blast was so strong that they thought it was an earthquake as their windows shook – as residents left the house desperately trying to escape.

Neighbor Candice Nevison, 37, said she saw someone jump out of the window of the house that caught fire.

In horror, I watched another person run from the burning building before an elderly woman was carried from the destroyed home on the shoulder of a man.

Speaking from her house near the scene, the mother said: “It was like there was a loud bang and it felt like something had fallen on my head.

“The effect was so severe that I thought my house was collapsing.”

She added, “I looked outside and there was a wildfire.

“I saw people running outside the house at around 7:45 am. I saw someone jump out of the window while another person carried an old lady on her shoulder.

“You just don’t expect anything like this to happen.” I’ve never seen or heard anything like this before.

She said she was terrified that her mother lived on the same street – one of the six houses to be evacuated.

Tony McIlroy, who lives on the other side of the road, said he woke up in the early hours to a loud sound, opening his curtains to see debris flying into his window.

It was “seconds”, he said, before the entire house collapsed while the flames were still burning.

Thankfully, three members of the McLaughlin family were already out.

‘It was terrifying’

Retired engineer Tony, 73, said, “I knew them for 15 years, and thank God they were out of the house when it all collapsed.

“It was terrifying. I heard a loud boom and a noise, and when I opened the curtains, debris was flying towards me.

“It quickly collapsed and I stayed in a matter of seconds.”

Post-incident photos showed rubble strewn across the street and smoke billowing into the air.

Another neighbor described the massive explosion as “surreal”.

He was told that three people at the property had been taken to hospital with burns.

Colin Stone, 56, said, “I just got out because I thought my house had exploded.

“The whole street thought it – it was just surreal.

“The firefighters told us that they were taken to hospital with burns, and I hope they are fine.”

The disappearance of the house

Michael Dunn lives 3.5 miles from the scene in Denholm, and said he felt it in the small village.

He said, “I just got a call from my mother in Bradshaw, I heard a loud bang like an explosion upstairs, so she was called to see if everything was fine.”

“There were emergency services everywhere, and that house disappeared a five-minute walk away, and we heard and felt it in Denholm.”

A local resident wrote on social media: “I thought it was an earthquake. The dogs were turning to mind.”

Another added, “We heard the explosion and our windows shook.”

A third said, “Never go to such a bang, it shook the park in Ogden.”

It was not clear what caused the explosion.

And locals have already gathered together, indicating a fundraising campaign for the people involved after the explosion just three weeks before Christmas.

The authorities confirmed that no one else had disappeared at this time.

Fire brigades were working on the scene with West Yorkshire Police and Utility Services.

Firefighters had to extinguish fire pockets.

The accident affected one building, and six neighboring houses were evacuated as a precaution.
