The Syrian civil war seems to be entering a new and even more dangerous phase. Government forces have called for support for Kurdish fighters who have suffered Turkish attacks. Turkish forces crossed into Syria last week. The Turkish government considers Kurdish fighters a terrorist, and wants to occupy a buffer zone that reaches 20 kilometers into Syria. The Kurds are now calling for President Assad’s Syrian support. Syrian government forces have now entered a number of cities south of the border, creating a dangerous confrontation with Turkey.
