Australian fires: Residents of Fraser Island were told to leave immediately – BBC News
Firefighters are fighting to keep a large fire 700 meters from a small town on an Australian holiday island. Earlier they were asked to evacuate dozens of Happy Valley residents as the fire spread east across Fraser Island. Firefighters have been trying to control the island’s fires for six weeks – a popular tourist destination on the Queensland coast.
