A man in the Dutch city of Utrecht has opened fire on a tram, injuring several people, police said. Authorities have closed a plaza near a tram station west of the city, where emergency services are located. A police spokesman said the gunman fled the scene from the car. Police say they are investigating a “potential terrorist cause.” Emergency personnel have called for progress. The shooting took place around the 24 Oktoberplein junction at around 10:45 local time (09:45 GMT). They sent three helicopters. “A man started firing,” a witness told the Dutch news agency NU.nl.
