Melinda Gates: Covid-19 vaccine to be distributed worldwide for faster economic recovery

Melinda Gates urges leaders of rich countries not to forget about the world when they start spreading coronavirus vaccines. “Everyone needs this vaccine,” Gates, one of the founders of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, told CNN’s Poppy Harlow on Thursday. “If we only reach high-income countries, this disease will bounce back. We will see double the death toll. And the recovery of our economies will be much slower than if we spread the vaccine to everyone.” The Gates Foundation said on Thursday it wants to commit an additional $ 250 million to support “research, development and fair delivery” of tools to combat Covid-19, including testing, treatments and vaccines.
