Boris Johnson says he is preparing a “strong opportunity” for a Brexit without an agreement – BBC News
After ten months of trade negotiations with the EU, the prime minister has said there is a good chance of no agreement on a post-Brexit deal. Boris Johnson met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels, but did not overcome the blockade. The two sides agreed that they were still a long way off, but agreed that the talks would continue until Sunday, December 13th. It will then be decided whether or not the discussions are worth pursuing. Boris Johnson said he had informed the Cabinet that the conditions currently being offered were not appropriate for the UK. It poses a great deal of uncertainty for businesses with a transition period ending in early 2021. If there is no trade agreement, it will mean significant changes in the UK.
