China will be celebrating its 70th anniversary since the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong, or President Mao, announced the formation of the PRC after the Communist forces won a bloody civil war.

Since then modern China has developed at an extraordinary pace, but it is also one of the most restrictive states in the world.

But the celebrations fell into disrepair when thousands of people took to the streets of Hong Kong when a violent clash erupted.

Police have thrown in the foul gas, and people who were arrested were blocking roads, saying Beijing is increasing control over the country’s society and politics.
