UK warns of “huge gaps” after Boris Johnson talks in Brussels – BBC News
The UK has said there are “major obstacles” to the post-Brexit trade agreement with the EU – following emergency talks between European Commission President Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen. A Downing Street spokesman said there were “very large gaps” left between the two sides after a dinner in Brussels. They said talks would continue, but a firm decision would be made by Dec. 13 to see if an agreement could be reached. The two leaders tried to break the deadlock over rules on fair competition and the individual issue of fishing quotas. Before moving to Brussels, Johnson said the EU had made demands that a prime minister could not accept. The EU has said it will soon publish emergency plans in the absence of an agreement, including measures for planes to fly between the UK and the EU.
