“Extreme caution” called for Christmas Covid infections to grow significantly – BBC News

Despite increasing pressure from doctors and scientists to suspend the relaxation of Covid restrictions at Christmas, the four nations in the UK have largely decided to adhere to pre-agreed plans. However, as the number of infections is rising significantly, the four nations in the UK are demanding that they be “extremely careful” at Christmas for five days. The rules initially agreed in the UK from 23rd to 27th December allow you to spend the night in three homes in a “Christmas bubble” if the interior of the house is confusing and unavoidable. Wales now wants to limit the mix to two houses, but only one person living alone in those houses can join. Non-essential shops will close on Christmas Eve and all of Wales will return as a closing on 28 December. Scotland requires that interactions with other homes be ideally away and that contact be limited to one day.
