UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people to make Christmas celebrations “short” and “small” to reduce the risk of Covid spreading during the holiday season, even as doctors and scientists have stepped up pressure to ignore the relaxation of Christmas cuts. The cuts will ease from December 23 to 27, but the prime minister said people should “think hard” before reuniting with friends and family. They will be allowed to join three houses – not only in Wales, but changing the law will only allow two houses. And people in Scotland have been asked to gather in just five days.
