12 slight earthquakes since June Delhi is feeling strong tremors again

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, struck several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region on Thursday evening, forcing people to flee their homes. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and the surrounding areas for several seconds. The quake struck at 11:46 pm at a depth of 7.5 km from the surface. There were no reports of damage to life or property, as earthquakes of magnitude four or less barely caused any damage.

The epicenter was Rewar Haryana, according to the Indian National Center of Seismology (NCS). “The earthquake is in Delhi NCR. Tremors were felt in Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad. According to the National Seismology Center, the epicenter has been suggested to be 48 kilometers southwest of Gorogram,” Skymet Weather tweeted.

Geologists say Delhi, which is located near a fault line, is prone to major earthquakes. The city is located in the fourth seismic zone – a high-risk zone.
