Mumbai: Rep. Sanjay Raut said on Tuesday that Mumbai’s Shiv Sena Bhavan Party would emerge as the epicenter of future “political earthquakes” in Maharashtra, while responding to the BJP over its leaders’ allegations of “mass exodus” from other parties.

He also said that Maharashtra residents want President Sina and Prime Minister Odhav Thackeray to be a part of the national policy while remaining rooted in the state.

“We heard in recent days that their (BJ) party is intact and none of its leaders will abandon. Wait a few days, you will know who is splitting. Workers will come (to Shiv Sena).

“But keep in mind one thing, which is that Shiv Sena Bhavan will be the epicenter of political earthquakes in the future,” Raut told reporters.

He made the remarks as soon as some BJP workers joined the party led by Uddhav Thackeray at his main office in Dadar, central Mumbai.

On Monday, BJP leader Devendra Vadnavis was reported to have alluded to an “exodus” of cadres from other parties to the BJP in the future.

Raut said the members of the Islamic Conference Party, Shiv Sina, the National Congress Party and Congress are united, strong and working in harmony.

“People in the state feel that the MVA government will last for 20 to 25 years and not for the next four to five years. They (the people) feel that Uddhav Thackeray should play in state politics as well as in the state.” Sena’s keynote spokesperson said.

He said that Maharashtra has faced several crises over the past year and people have suffered a difficult period due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“But the satisfaction that appears on their faces is only because Uddhav Thackeray is the prime minister. People think Thackeray is communicating with them and taking care of them. The prime minister has given them confidence to face the crisis. Because of this confidence, many workers, Raut said.”

Raut, while researching the BJP, said the opposition party should be given a “Bharat Ratna” for criticizing the Sina-led government of Maha Vikas Agadi over its decision to impose a night curfew.

On Monday, the state government announced a night-time curfew from 11 pm until 6 am in municipal corporate areas (cities) from December 22 to January 5 as a precaution, amid mounting concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus in Britain.

Reut said the decision to impose a night curfew was related to the safety of the general public, and he asked the BJP to be aware of the events in the world.

“The BJP may not be aware of what is happening around the world because Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi has not traveled abroad for several months. They should have this information,” he said.

Asked about the BJP’s claim that the MVA government was feeling “helpless” in dealing with the pandemic, Reut said, “I can see the (central) government impotence on the farmers’ issue. I haven’t seen such a deficit in the past 50 years.”

Sina workers demanded that the party be elected in the Nashik municipal elections.
