Kent’s truck will continue to be blocked for days – France and UK agree to test drivers – BBC News

An agreement has been reached between the UK and France to restart the flow of goods between the two countries. The Armed Forces will be part of the internal operation for about 20 minutes to give Covid quick tests to truck drivers. The system will spend several days with about 3,000 trucks from Kent waiting to cross the English Channel to clean the back-up machine. France closed the border on Sunday due to growing concerns about a new variant of coronavirus spreading across the UK. Flights, ferry services and Eurostar trains will resume services under the agreement, but only for French nationalities or residents who have tested negative for Covid and only EU citizens.
