Matt Hancock announces more areas in England to enter Level 4 as another variant of Covid is detected
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced that more areas in the south and south-east of England will include Level 4 Covid restrictions from Boxing Day. (Subscribe:
Excluding parts of Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Waverly Surrey, Hampshire, New Forest and currently non-four-level Essex, they will enter the highest level on 26 December. Some areas will also move to Level 3, including Bristol, Gloucestershire and Somerset, but not North Somerset. He added that another variant of coronavirus has been identified in two patients who recently traveled from South Africa. The health secretary said the two cases and the close relationship of the cases have been quarantined.
