Can India become a $ 5 trillion economy? – BBC News

“India has come up with an ambitious plan to transform the economy into $ 5 trillion over the next five years. For perspective, the second most populous country in the world would move to third place after the United States and China.

But it won’t be easy, and the government also supports that. Experts say there are many bottles. The country is experiencing high unemployment, a continuing farm crisis and rising trade tensions. Growth has slowed and there is no immediate indication of a turn.

But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, which has tabled the first budget for its second mandate, says concerns have been addressed.

We talk to a senior industrialist, an independent economist and an entrepreneur to see the roadmap for this ambitious target, and ask whether the budget can translate into India’s high-profile growth.
