India extends the blockade as infections become more widespread

More than 7,500 cases and 239 deaths are now confirmed in the country. But extreme restrictions are already causing serious difficulties for the poor in India. Hard-pressed hospitals are fighting infections, addressing shortages of protective equipment and staff.
