The 140 Republicans in the House hoped they would oppose Biden’s victory
Two Republican members of the House of Representatives told CNN that at least 140 GOP colleagues in the House are expected to vote against the January 6 vote count, when Congress is expected to secure the victory of President-elect Joe Biden. Republican allies of President Donald Trump have virtually no chance of changing the outcome, delaying by a few hours the inevitable confirmation of Biden Election University winner and next president. No credible allegations have been made about the votes that would have affected the election, as dozens of judges, governors, election officials, the Electoral College, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Supreme Court have stated. But Trump will claim to have lost (yes, significantly) and many GOP politicians share a fear of causing his deception or anger, even if it means voting to weaken democracy. A member of the House and the senator must face an opposition when Congress counts the votes. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri said he will oppose it Wednesday, which will force both House and Senate lawmakers to vote on whether to accept the results of Biden’s victory. Other senators (including incumbents) may join in the effort, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell urging Republicans not to do so privately. Trump has been pushing Congress to try to invalidate the election result, as attempts to overthrow the election through the courts have been repeatedly rejected. #KaitlinCollins #CNN #New.
