A 4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes near Soda Springs, Caribou County, Idaho, United States

4.2 Earthquake Jan 2 10:35 pm (GMT-7)

Just 22 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake occurred near Soda Springs, Caribou County, Idaho, USA. The tremor was recorded late on Saturday night, January 2, 2021 at 10:35 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.2 miles below the surface, and the event was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first seismic agency. . To report this, our monitoring service identified a second report from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) which mentioned the magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well, and based on preliminary seismic data, many people may have felt the earthquake in the epicenter area. It should not have caused much damage, other than falling off shelves, broken windows, etc. In Georgetown (No. 470) located 7 miles from the epicenter, the earthquake should have been felt as a slight shaking. Maybe I felt a weak tremor. In Soda Springs (population 2,900) located 10 miles from the epicenter, Georgetown (population 190) 14 miles, Soda Springs (population 900) 14 miles, and Paris (population. 510) 23 miles. Other cities or include cities near the epicenter where you might have felt the earthquake where the tremor was very weak, Preston (population 5,200) is 39 miles away from the epicenter, Pocatillo (54400) 55 miles away, and Logan (50400) 60 away Miles.
