Another 1,325 people have died in the UK 28 days after a positive Covid test – the highest figure reported in a single day since the pandemic began. This measure means that only 80,000 deaths have occurred – another 68,053 new cases have been registered. Public Health England (PHE) said the number of deaths “will continue to spread until we stop the spread.” London Mayor Sadiq Khan has said the spread of Covid in the capital is now “out of control” as he has declared it a “serious incident”.
