TKO will officially unveil a new roadmap for the next decade
The World Health Organization (WHO) will officially announce its new roadmap for neglected tropical diseases on January 28, 2021. Registration is open for a virtual launch that includes a two-hour program involving heads of state, health ministers of several countries, the WHO Director-General and regional directors, and partner organizations.
‘Completing the neglect of achieving sustainable development goals: a roadmap for neglected tropical diseases 2021-2030.’ the high-level strategic document aims to strengthen the programmatic response to NTDs and focuses on how cross-sectoral, integrated interventions, smart investments and community engagement can strengthen and sustain health systems
This global launch – against the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic and its challenges – will also celebrate the progress made with the first roadmap (2012-2020). Healthcare professionals, volunteers and implementers will be able to share country stories, perspectives and experiences from different sectors, including the NTD’s response to COVID-19.
Completion of NTD: together towards 2030
The Zoom program will begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. CET on Thursday, January 28, 2021. WHO is working with countries, regions, and partners to complete an agenda that should inspire those outside the global NTD community to support ‘health for all’.
The launch of the virtual campaign will begin on January 18 with selected topics, shared content specific to the message boost roadmap. This includes videos about the various shifts in the new roadmap, goals for 2030 and potential challenges.
