Brexit: UK leaving EU at 11pm GMT – BBC News

The UK will leave the EU after 23:00 at age 47.

In a video message released just an hour earlier, Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for Brexit – which is more than three years after the political battle – “a new dawn”.

Brexit and EU protesters will hold a number of marches, celebrations and candlelight events.

It will change very soon as the UK begins a “transitional period”.

Most EU laws will remain in effect – including free movement of people – until the end of December, when the UK wants to reach a permanent free trade agreement with the EU.
