Young, black and more likely to die in Brazil – BBC News

In Brazil, thousands of people are killed by police every year. Together with a local NGO, the Brazilian Public Security Forum, the BBC in Brazil is looking to find those most at risk of deadly police violence. After examining more than 1,200 profiles of the dead in 2020, he found that in the state of Rio de Janeiro alone, 75% of all deaths were black Brazilians. Both Ana-Paula Rocha and Rafaela Coutinho Matos lost their sons in police clashes. They told the BBC their stories.
