The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a 5.8-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia near Tual, Maluku, just 12 minutes ago. The earthquake struck early in the evening of Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 6:44 PM local time at a shallow depth of 20 km. The exact size, focus and depth of an earthquake may be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their reports.
