Iraqi protests: 40 dead mass casualties as violence descends – BBC News
At least 40 people have been killed in Iraq’s latest wave of government protests.
Two of the dead security forces hit tear gas tanks in Baghdad’s capital.
Reports say that half of the victims were killed while trying to storm the militia groups and government offices.
Demonstrators demand more jobs, better public services and an end to corruption.
Around 2,000 people were injured in protests across the country, AFP cited a source of security.
Similar protests have been sparked by security forces earlier this month, leaving nearly 150 people dead.
