TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked the city of Poole, Central Sulawesi last midnight on February 23, 2021. As reported on the official website of the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), the earthquake occurred at 02:22 : 09 West Indonesia Time.

The epicenter was at sea, 90 km northeast of Bole, at a depth of 10 km.

Depending on its strength, the earthquake had an IV MMI scale in Buol, and a III MMI scale in Bone Bolango and Toli-Toli.

IV MMI scale means, according to BMKG literacy, earthquake tremors were in a mild category, even if people were felt indoors. An earthquake of this magnitude also causes windows and doors to squeak.

Meanwhile, the III MMI-rated earthquake is rated weak, and causes only small shocks in the home.
