An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred just 9 minutes ago, 56 kilometers south of Vanimo, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia’s Meteorological Agency, Climatology and Geophysics reported. The region, Western Sepic Province, Papua New Guinea, early in the morning Sunday March 7, 2021 at 5:42 a.m. local time. The exact size, focus and depth of an earthquake may be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their report. The center (EMSC), which also listed it as a 4.5-magnitude earthquake, and based on preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage, but many people probably felt it as a slight shaking in the epicenter area.
